Skylar and his wife, Shelly, have been married since October 2019. Shelly serves as an elementary school instructional coach and shares Skylar's heart for serving the local church. Together they are raising two sons, Liam and Micah.

About the Candidate for Associate Pastor of Dicipleship:
Born on June 23, 1994, Skylar has served in pastoral ministry for more than a decade, most recently as Pastor of Worship & Discipleship at Parkview Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Worship Ministry from The Baptist College of Florida and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Skylar was ordained in 2016, he and his wife, Shelly, have been married since 2019 and are the proud parents of two sons, Liam and Micah.
Saved at the age of 8 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Skylar came to faith after the Holy Spirit convicted him of his need for a Savior. During high school, God called him into ministry, and he surrendered to that calling. His ministry is centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, with a desire to equip believers, lead people into authentic worship, and see lives transformed by God's grace as the church fulfills its mission of making disciples and sharing the gospel with the world.
Throughout his years of service, he has led worship, preached, developed discipleship strategies, trained leaders, coordinated small groups, strengthened guest connection pathways, and fostered a culture of multiplication and sending. He is passionate about helping churches build healthy leadership pipelines, cultivate biblical community, and see lives transformed through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
